Another Brick in the Wall: 'Little Boxes' Garment Boards and Two Finished Pieces

The inspiration behind these final six garment boards was the line, "and they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same", from Malvina Reynolds' tune, 'Little Boxes'. The Mondrian paintings used in the background, which I recoloured in blues, yellows, and black, were the idea behind the patchwork patterns of the dresses.













Little Boxes dresses, one mini and one maxi, on stand and almost complete. The mini has the dowel rods in, which stand the dress out. For the maxi, I left the dowel rods out (although the seams which hold them are still there) in order to show the drape that is created by the cut of the dress:
